Let's just get this straight - SCOTLAND is in the UK. It's part of the UK. That means the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is 4 separate countries united (see, there's a theme) by one crown (that is, a King or Queen). OK, so Northern Ireland is a contentious issue, but I'm not talking about them, right now, OK?
So... here's the thing:
Scotland is NOT part of England. It's not a region in England, nor is it a province.
I repeat... Scotland IS NOT in England.
It's NOT a city.
It's NOT a rebel, breakaway province, either.
IT'S a country.
So when I go to post something to Scotland, UK... I am NOT posting something to ENGLAND (I hear you... I know the difference... I can speak a little Chinese, you know).
When I say where I am from I don't mean 'England' - I really do mean 'Scotland'. I'm not messing with your mind, here. There's a distinction... a border.
And when I talk about going home - I mean the UK, or Scotland. I've never lived in England. It's not my home.
And when I talk about our queen (as much as I'm no Royalist, she's still ours 'til we get rid of her... which won't be for a while) - I mean the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. She's NOT JUST the Queen of ENGLAND.
The same applies to the Prime Minister - He's the Prime Minister of the UK, not just England. I know CNN like to say "The Prime Minister of England..., and The Queen of England...blah blah blah..." But they're an American news channel. They know fuck-all, quite frankly. And even less about anything out-with their own borders.
What's more, I wouldn't dare to insult the Taiwanese by suggesting that Taiwan is a mere 'province' of China. Nor would I suggest it is just a 'region' or... worse still, a 'city' in the PRC. I'm in Taiwan - it's a sensitive issue, and a lot of people would get extremely angsty if I dared to insult their beloved country. I would try to maintain the same respect with any country that is particulary sensitive over such issues.
But the fact of the matter is, Scotland is not in a debatable position. It has never been 'part of' England. It isn't 'claimed' (erroneously or otherwise), by a foreign government. So, please, for fuck's sake, have some respect for me, and learn some basic geography skills. And actually listen to what I say, when I explain where the hell SCOTLAND is.
In case you missed it, let me remind you again:
I'M NOT ENGLISH
